Blaine Walsh is the owner of www.driving-instructor.tv, has been a driving instructor trainer for 15 years and a driving instructor for over 20 years. When he first qualified Blaine admits his was not a very good instructor, became disillusioned, was not retaining pupils and not making any money, so he quit full time teaching. After spending time self-reflecting, he had a light bulb moment and realised that he needed to put more explanation, effort and enthusiasm into teaching learners. Since then he has not looked back and is now regarded as one of the top trainers in the country.

3. The process for training to become an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor)
There are three tests that you will need to pass to become an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor). Here you will be given a brief overview of the training and qualifying process. Further videos go into a little more depth about what is involved in each test and the training options available to you.
4. Getting Started – What to do before you start training to become a driving instructor
Even if you are only considering the possibility of training to become an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) with the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) we suggest you complete a criminal disclosure form, previously known as a CRB. If you do have a criminal record this may not mean you cannot become a driving instructor. You will not be able to take any of the tests without having completed the CRB. You will then need to register with the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) to start your training. More information about your training options can be found on our other videos.
9. Studying for DVSA Driving Instructor Exams Part 1 Theory Test
This video covers what you need to know to take your Part 1 Theory Test as part of qualifying to become an ADI (Approved Driving Instructor) with the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency). The Part 1 is the first of three tests you will take before you qualify. The Part 1 covers the Theory Test which includes hazard perception. Video number 10 talks you through the hazard perception part of the Part 1.

11. An Overview of the DVSA training to be a Driving Instructor (ADI) Part 2
Video number 11 talks you through the basics of taking the Part 2 test to become a driving instructor. The Part 2 is the second test of three tests you will take to qualify as an ADI (Approved driving instructor) registered with the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency).
